About
The WVU Extension Service works in all 55 West Virginia counties to bring research-based knowledge and outreach to our communities. WVU Extension faculty and staff offer expertise in a broad range of areas, including family and community development; 4-H and youth development; and agriculture and natural resources. The Extension Service empowers our residents by giving them tools and resources they can use to change their lives and the lives of those in their communities.
Programs
Ohio County 4-H Youth Development
4-H serves as one of the largest youth development programs in the United States. Studies show that 4-H members do better in school, are more motivated to help others, feel safe to try new things, achieve a sense of self-esteem and develop lasting friendships. As a result of participating in projects and service, 4-H youth learn leadership, citizenship and life skills.
In Ohio County 4-H offers community clubs, specialty clubs, cloverbud clubs, county camps, club outings, Achievement Banquet and must more!
Membership is open to any youth of at least 9 years of age and who is not older than 21 within the current 4-H year, which runs from October 1- September 30. The Cloverbud program is open to children ages 5-7.
Ohio County Agriculture & Natural Resources
Lawn, Gardening & Pests - For a lawn that feels and looks like home or a bountiful harvest, WVU Extension has lawn, gardening and pest information you can use! With resources for master gardener training, houseplant care, insect pest management, lawn care and plant disease, WVU Extension is here to help.
