WVU Extension

The WVU Extension Service works in all 55 West Virginia counties to bring research-based knowledge and outreach to our communities. WVU Extension faculty and staff offer expertise in a broad range of areas, including family and community development; 4-H and youth development; and agriculture and natural resources. The Extension Service empowers our residents by giving them tools and resources they can use to change their lives and the lives of those in their communities.
Programs

  • Through 4-H youth development, horizons are broadened and leaders are grown.
  • Through the Family Nutrition Program and other health initiatives, children and adults achieve healthier, more satisfying lives.
  • Through community, workforce, and economic development initiatives, communities are supported and revitalized.
  • Through the Master Gardener Program, residents better understand horticulture and environmental issues through presentations and service projects at schools, parks, and other locations.
  • Through agriculture and natural resource education, farmers and other citizens use valuable natural resources more wisely and more efficiently manage lawns, gardens, and pests.

In accordance with Federal law and U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) civil rights regulations and policies, the Extension Service is prohibited from discriminating on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, age, disability, and reprisal or retaliation for prior civil rights activity. (Not all prohibited bases apply to all programs).
